LIFE ON THE ISLAND SOMETIMES GOES ON WITHOUT THE INTERNET… ALL OF OUR ENTERTAINMENT IS INTERNET DRIVEN SO UNFORTUNATELY THAT GOES DOWN WHEN THE INTERNET IS DOWN. It usually takes a couple hours to resolve, but unfortunately we cannot control that. We will pass along any updates if we receive them.
There are nine HDTV’s on the property. Each one internet connected and equipped with a Roku streaming system for our guest’s use. Each is connected to the best wifi source, so please do not change that setting.
The only remote needed to operate is the Roku remote which has TV power, controls, and volume. In the event there is an issue with the TV the original remote is attached to the back of each TV, please return that remote after any use.
Set up on each Roku system are apps for all major streaming services downloaded to all TV’s. Feel free to log in to Netflix, Hulu, Disney, etc with your own credentials and access your favorite shows. If there is a service you use that does not have an app on our system, please contact the property managers who can assist with setting that up.
The HOUSE account for live TV is a DirecTV or D-Stream account. This stays logged in to our account and allows you to stream live TV, and stream a variety of shows free of charge. Please do not log out of this account as it will be difficult to get the home ready for the next guests to enjoy.
For your privacy, we recommend logging out of all other streaming services before you leave.
Turn on TV and Roku System with red power button on top of Roku remote. (Initial start takes a minute or so)
From the Home Screen navigate to the app you would like to use and select “OK”. Each app has a unique interface, and you may need to experiment with the buttons that make it work.
The Home button always returns you to the Roku Home Screen. The back arrow navigates back one level within an app.
For the house live TV select DStream, ( the DirecTV app). From there use the down button to open the menu and select “Guide”. From there you can navigate channels by choosing “Channels” on the left (or “Recent”) and scroll through. You can pause live TV and rewind as well. Volume and mute are on the side of the Roku remote.
To leave DStream just select the Home button on the remote and you will be back at the Roku Home Screen
To turn off the TV and Roku simply press the red power button again.
NOTE: Streaming can sometimes be glitchy. If you get strange noise in the background, or the picture freezes, simple exit to the main Roku screen and go back into the streaming service you were using. If the problem continues try shutting the system off and restarting – or contact the property manager.
